These tend to be a little more challenging for students to remember, so this is just one way to help remember some of those multiplication facts!

Hey, gang! I’m here to teach you a few more multiplication facts. Today, we’re going to talk about some little tricks for multiplying by six.

Six is one of those more difficult numbers for kids to remember, so here are a few tricks to help. This method works when you’re multiplying by single-digit even numbers. It doesn’t cover all numbers, but it provides a few extra tips to make things easier.

As you can see here, I have 6 × 2 listed. The trick is that the tens place will be half of the number you’re multiplying by, and the ones place will have that same number.
For example, with 6 × 4, half of 4 is 2, so the tens place is 2, and the ones place remains 4.

The same pattern applies to 6 × 6. Half of 6 is 3, so the tens place is 3, and the ones place stays 6. Finally, with 6 × 8, half of 8 is 4, so the tens place is 4, and the ones place remains 8.

Some kids notice a pattern here: 1, 2, 3, 4 in the tens place and 2, 4, 6, 8 in the ones place. That can be helpful! However, this method doesn’t include odd numbers like 6 × 3 or 6 × 5, which might make things a little confusing.
